Music Vibes: What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish
In my life I've learned that not every close friendship is meant to last a lifetime, some people are not meant to be there for the good and bad. Some people are just a chapter in your story and it is ok to not get close to every person we meet. We aren't meant to form close relationships with every single person that crosses our path. Knowing this it makes me all that more grateful for those that I've had in my life for years, through all my good and bad as well as theirs.
Last weekend one of my long terms and I took our daughters on a Seattle adventure to see Billie Eilish concert at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA that was originally scheduled for 2020, but ya know, COVID. I have to say, it was so much worth the wait and is in my top 3 favorite concerts. Billie Eilish puts on a fantastic show and genuinely connects with her audience. I was a bit taken aback when I went to the merch store and saw that hoodies were $90, but then it was proved to be worth it because that money goes back into the show, making it a damn good concert. There are so many things that I appreciated about the Billie Eilish concert, from her having a mini stage in the back, so that she can address the majority of her audience, to her being lifted on a lift so that even the back of the back seats got included, she go from a badass "lets jam" song to a mellow, "let's chill" song. Of course, everyone loved Phineas, her brother, and her showing she cares about each of her fans.
It means a lot when a performer cares about their fans and what they appreciate and even though I didn't know most of her newer songs, I still was able to enjoy the concert. I loved seeing that the girls were having a blast just as much as I and we talked about the concert on the walk back to the hotel. It was unanimous, we all loved it!
The energy in Seattle is one I enjoy, as we walked through downtown and Pike Place Market. The random people walking by and dancing to @pikestreetdrummer (on IG) playing on the corner, strangers not caring about the next person's political views or background, but everyone just feeling the music. Smiles covered the whole corner and a kid and an old lady that didn't seem to know each other even ended up vibing and dancing together. It was a fun experience to share with Daughter, while my friend and her daughter were in a shop nearby.
Although a couple of us in the group hate people, we braved Pikes Market, a place that has so much going on its overwhelming at times, but it also has a lot of unique finds, artwork, jams, flowers, and jewelry, just to name a few. We ended the market by experiencing the disgustingly amazing gum wall. If you go to Seattle, you pretty much have to plan on walking a lot, which just adds to the whole Seattle experience.
The morning before we left, we made a trip to the Space Needle, something that I've long had on my bucket list. I'm deathly afraid of heights.... fair Ferris wheels scare the shit out of me, so to say I was anxious to go up in that glass elevator and see the top of the Space Needle is an understatement. I can't even go up see-through stairs without getting a little freaked out, but I was determined.
FUCK THAT ELEVATOR!!!!
I was literally so scared going up the elevator that I could see through that I backed so far back, hanging on to VOR's sleeve that I'm sure the guy behind me got a tad uncomfortable because I was all up in his junk. Sorry guy, I wasn't moving. (I made sure to get to the back wall when I went back down.)
The view at the top was worth it and even though I wasn't able to stay outside to enjoy the view very long, everyone else did and it was so cool to see how much they enjoyed it, just as much as I was enjoying the view from the inside. No, I did not go on the insane glass floor that you can see all the way below you. No thank you, I have enough dreams of falling to my death, I don't need anymore. Being at the top and seeing the view made me just sit back and give a prayer of appreciation. I was thankful for the experience and even more importantly the people I was with.
A thing I like about Seattle is that there are street musicians and artwork pretty much everywhere you look. Daughter and I always like tipping the musicians when we enjoy them, we tipped one guy playing beautiful violin music with an elegant violin $20, and the look on his face, jaw dropped as he saw Daughter drop it in his container was priceless. After she dropped it in, he yelled, "Thank you! That just made me staying late worth it."
I got the feels and was glad we did it.
Big shout out to Zeek's Pizza for our delicious pizza and exceptional service. A cute little spot that we found by accident across the street from Trader Joe's. The two waiters, whom I unfortunately didn't get the names of, made sure that we were taken care of, that we didn't have to wait long for our food, and that our bellies were happy before we set on our journey home.
Although I loved the whole vibe of Seattle, I only like it in small doses, as I was ready to get away from all of the people and get home to relax. People exhaust me. I love Seattle for a trip, but I'll never want to live there or spend more than a weekend. I'll always be a small-town girl at heart.
I know it's been a while since my last article, I'm trying to find my mojo back. I'm trying to find a new normal where I am writing multiple times a week. My muse has been taking a long nap and I've been too lazy to call her out.
So I thank each and every one of you for the patience you have and the support you give me, even during my writer's block times. Thank you for always taking the time to read my randomness.
